What Causes Stress?

Throughout our lives we are constantly subjected to stressful situations and emotional traumas, starting with being separated from our mothers at birth. We then experience stress when we are hungry and need changing or a hug and as we grow up our interactions with other people generate stress such as: gaining parents and peers approval, pressure to succeed at school, work or in other areas of life, forming relationships and relationship breakdowns, bereavement, personal or family health problems. If our work and home lives are creating conflicting demands excessive stress may prevail.

Common causes of stress include:

  • Work life
  • Finding work
  • A job promotion
  • Unemployment
  • Commuting
  • Environmental factors (such as external toxins, tobacco, pollution, alcohol, food)
  • Bereavement
  • Divorce of separation
  • Holidays
  • Ill health within the family
  • Exams
  • Moving house
  • Driving
  • Shopping
  • Having children
  • Children leaving home
  • Caring for dependents
  • Money worries
  • Changes in personal habits e.g. going on a diet, giving up smoking
  • Illness and injuries

Our survival depends on how we respond to physical and social demands. Long-term exposure to stress hormones can have very negative consequences.

Corporate Chair Massage

Sit back, relax and enjoy some precious moments of zen calm with Relax in the City.

We offer on-site chair massage, also known as seated acupressure, which fuses the ancient Oriental massage practices of Anma and Shiatsu.

Chair massage is a meridian based therapy, which involves the use of thumb, finger, elbow and knuckle pressure over acupressure points to stimulate and balance the flow of energy throughout the body.

On-site chair massage concentrates on the back, shoulders, neck, arms, hands and scalp, in order to stimulate the circulatory, muscular, nervous, immune and lymphatic systems. Chair massage also promotes the release of feel-good endorphins. The chair massage recipient is left feeling simultaneously relaxed and energised after a treatment, with no more disruption to the working day than a coffee break.

The client is seated in an ergonomically designed chair for comfort, which supports the recipients body and allows the practitioner to easily access acupressure points. No oils are used during a chair massage session and the client remains fully clothed throughout. Clients are screened with a medical questionnaire prior to having a chair massage treatment and if chair massage does not prove suitable we may be able to offer one of our other services, which also include Reiki and Indian Head Massage.

We offer chair massage in 20 or 30 minute sessions to companies and offices within and around London and we are certified and insured practitioners.

Chair massage is a great way to boost morale, reward employee performance and improve the health and well-being of employees. Professional, corporate chair massage treatments start from £20 for a 20 minute on-site massage.

Please contact us to discuss your requirements. We’re cheerful and helpful (thanks to all the treatments we give ourselves!)
